It tilts the slats open and closed. This part is considered heavy duty because it has a metal shaft and internal gear. This will provide a longer life than an all plastic mechanism. It comes with a hook and sleeve attached for easy wand installation. It has a 1 4" square hole on both sides of the part, and the foot of the tilt mechanism fits in a
